Trauma & Biohazard Cleanup

Discreet, careful cleanup of the rooms nobody should have to face alone, handled quietly so the people who live there don't have to.

Why a household cleaner isn't enough

When something has happened in a home, the instinct is to clean it yourself and make the room ordinary again as fast as possible. That instinct is human. But blood and other bodily fluids can carry blood-borne pathogens, and the risk doesn't end when the surface looks clean.

The harder part is what you can't see. Fluids move into porous materials: carpet and pad, subfloor, mattresses, upholstery, grout and the back of drywall. A spray from the cleaning aisle treats the top layer and leaves the rest. Lingering odor is usually the sign that something remains, and in a closed room it can last for months. Materials that have absorbed contamination can't be disinfected all the way through. They have to come out.

None of this is something a family should be asked to take on in the days afterward. It's physically risky, emotionally heavy, and the mistakes don't show until later. Whoever does the work should be properly equipped and should treat the room, and the people connected to it, with respect.

How Strategic Source works a room like this

Triage is a quiet call. Our team responds, asks only what we need to know to send the right people and equipment, and nobody has to explain more than they want to. The technicians are IICRC Certified Restoration Technicians, and they're available 24/7 on the hotline at (201) 204-9700, because these calls rarely come at a convenient hour.

Mitigate begins with protection. Technicians work in full PPE, the area is closed off with containment so nothing travels to the rest of the home, and the affected zone is mapped before anything is touched. Porous materials that have absorbed contamination are removed and packaged for proper disposal. Hard surfaces are cleaned and then treated with EPA-registered disinfectants, applied for the contact time the product calls for.

Restore brings the room back to something you can stand in. Remaining odor is treated with air scrubbers running and, where it's called for, hydroxyl or ozone treatment. If flooring or drywall had to come out, the rebuild is part of what Strategic Source does. Back Safe & Sound is the final check, and then the room is handed back to you.

Discretion, insurance and what comes after

We treat every job as private. You'll be told what is being removed and why, in plain language and without graphic detail, and the work is done with the quiet and dignity it deserves.

Depending on the circumstances, a homeowner's policy may respond to some of this cleanup. We work directly with your insurance, and we've partnered with a seasoned public adjuster who assesses the damage right after you call, so you aren't left sorting out paperwork while you're dealing with everything else. Estimates are always free.

If you're in Fort Lee or anywhere else in New Jersey and you aren't sure whether a situation needs professional cleanup, call and ask. A sentence or two about what happened is enough for us to tell you what we'd do.
